VERTICAL GARDEN, Prishtina
Project type
Vertical Garden
Date
2021
Location
Bill Clinton Boulevard, Prishtina, Kosova
The Vertical Garden on Bill Clinton Boulevard represents a contemporary urban intervention designed to introduce greenery, identity, and environmental value into one of Pristina’s most dynamic corridors. Conceived as a fusion of landscape design and urban infrastructure, the installation transforms previously hard, inactive surfaces into living, visually engaging elements that enhance the character of the public realm.
Developed with a strong emphasis on sustainability and long-term urban performance, the project incorporates carefully selected plant species adapted to the local climate, ensuring resilience, seasonal diversity, and optimized maintenance. The vertical composition maximizes greenery within a minimal footprint, making it particularly suited for dense urban environments where horizontal green space is limited.
A key functional component of the installation is its automated irrigation system, which enables efficient and consistent water distribution while minimizing waste and maintenance effort. This integrated system supports plant health throughout changing weather conditions, ensuring the garden’s longevity and stable visual quality over time.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the Vertical Garden acts as a placemaking element — softening the surrounding architecture, enriching the pedestrian experience, and strengthening the boulevard’s visual identity. The intervention introduces natural texture, depth, and a sense of vitality into the urban landscape, creating a more welcoming and human-centered public space.
By merging design, ecology, and smart infrastructure, the project reflects Pristina’s evolving urban language, where contemporary aesthetics and environmental responsibility converge to shape a more livable city.
